UCI MTB ELIMINATOR WORLD CUP
The Mountain Bike Eliminator World Cup opens the season with a new venue. Barcelona and its Magical Fountains at Montjuïc are the new location chosen for this explosive race. The competition combines urban sections with artificial modules to enhance the route’s technical appeal.
Under the umbrella of the UCI, TV3 Televisió de Catalunya and City Mountain Bike have joined forces to transmit the race live, for the first time ever.
With an outlay of technical and human resources matched to the occasion and close coordination between the organisations involved, the race had a significant media impact, with international broadcasting in real time.
The atmosphere is fantastic here, very different from everything we’ve seen before. It’s been a pleasant surprise for me to have this World Cup held here in Barcelona; it’s incredible.
– JEROEN VAN ECK. Winner of the UCI WORLD CUP ELIMINATOR Barcelona.
The UCI MTB Eliminator World Cup was part of the Cycling Week Barcelona, a multidisciplinary cycling event that brings together the Urban Descent, DH Dual, Trial and the Eliminator. The speed with which the riders descend the steps in front of the MNAC (National Art Museum of Catalonia) and their leaps from great heights astonish and awe everyone who watches them.
