" Skyrace Comapedrosa, nothing higher, nothing more challenging. "

SKYRACE COMAPEDROSA

To say that the Skyrace Comapedrosa is an incomparable race in a class of its own is no exaggeration. In terms of linear kilometres, it’s the shortest race of the MiguRun Skyrunner World Series (World Skyrunning Championship), with just 21 km. You could almost say it’s a “sprint”. But it’s also the race with the most cumulative ascent: 2,300 metres.

The Skyrace Comapedrosa is a real challenge to run and a thrill to watch. It consists of two ascents and two descents. Put like that, it may sound simple, or even easy. But the second ascent is virtually a kilometre straight up. A wall that you have to scramble up with your hands and feet if you want to crown the roof of Andorra, the Summit of Comapedrosa, the Principality’s highest peak.

Once you’ve got to the top, it’s all downhill … (Sarcastic snigger). You would be wise to save some energy during the ascent. Otherwise, it’s going to take a long, long while to get back down.

I was really wanting to come back, here I feel at home […] The last time I did it, the race had already grown a lot, with a lot of top-level runners. And now, it’s become a celebration; with the children’s race, the short race … It’s a great celebration for sport.

– KILIAN JORNET. Winner in 2018 and 4 times Gold Medal winner in the World Skyrunning Championship.

The Skyrace Comapedrosa is fun, elegant and very fast, the fastest of them all. All mountain runners should do it at least once. The terrain is technically very demanding, with just loose stone and scree in some stretches. And the descent –very fast– demands total concentration.

This event also includes other races, such as the 15 km Skyrace Arinsal or the Catalonia Kids Cup, where enthusiasts of all ages will find a trial suited for them.
