VOLCAT UCI · MTB STAGE RACE

The VolCAT, originally ‘Volta a Catalunya en BTT’ (Mountain Bike Tour of Catalonia). One of the Iberian peninsula’s oldest races composed of different legs, it features a high level of international riders. Recently, the race has been expanded from 3 to 4 stages with UCI S2 category. It is organised as a festival, with activities for all the family, concerts, camper zone and services for riders.
The route takes the racers through different landscapes and trails of the county of Anoia, in Catalonia. This area features a wealth of entertaining single-tracks but also wide hard-surface tracks.
Centred on the town of Igualada and with the iconic massif of Montserrat always in view, this race gets the most out of an extremely varied terrain and a network of trails and paths that connects a number of medieval villages.
The Volcat format has travelled to other territories to enjoy new routes and landscapes. As is the case of the Volcat Platja d’Aro. Two fun stages with routes worked out in detail by the organisation and just a stone’s throw from the Catalan Costa Brava. Below is the report of the competition broadcast on Esport3.

Each year, Volcat Igualada brings together more than 1,000 cyclists from all parts of the world, from both the PRO and Open/Popular categories. The latter come in groups of friends or even as couples, to do something different for Easter and take on the great Volcat challenge, but beyond all that, to have a great time and enjoy their favourite sport, mountain biking.
